 Things to do in the Summer Months

Summertime Venosc is world renowned for its access to some of the best outdoor adventure and adrenalin pumping activities in the French Alpes. Venosc has easy access Les Deux Alpes summer resort via its own telecabine.

Les 2 Alpes Bike Park, open from end of June to the the end of August, has 2,300 metres of vertical drop which can be done on one run. Summer weather is consistently sunny and warm averaging mid 20 Degrees C.  The facilities provided in Les Deux Alpes, Alpe D’Huez and Bourg D’Oisans, are all within quick reach of Venosc. La Grave and Alpe d’Huez are about 35 minute drive from Venosc, and Bourg d’Oisans about 15 minutes drive.

 

Cycle Touring

There are dozens of long and short cycling routes accessible directly from Venosc and many more within a short drive. Try the Tour de France Alpe d’Huez climb, or explore many miles of quiet roads in areas of outstanding beauty in and around Venosc

Grand Randonnees

There are many summertime high route walking trails accessible directly from Venosc. Many are short enough to do in a day or less. Longer routes are are supported by the mountain refuge network. Low level walking routes are is also extensive, together with tremendous easy high level walking route access via the resort lifts.

 

Climbing and Scrambling

There are countless technical and scrambling opportunities in the area. There are several Via Ferrata routes in the area, one of which is a climb from Venosc to Les Deux Alpes (les Perrons).  The next nearest is St Christophe en Oisans Stage 1.  For the best and safest experience, we would recommend using local guides. Even for professionals.

VTT

Wow! Where do we start;  Fancy the Mountain of Hell race for example?  The route literally passes our front door running through the lanes of Venosc near the finish line.  Venosc is at the base of a vast network of amazing down hill, jump parks, and off-road tracks of all grades, ranging from glacier runs to boarded hairpins. They are everywhere in Les Deux Alpes, Alpe dHuez and La Grave. By far the best ride is form the top of Glacier de Mont-de-Lans and working your way down over 2000m to Venosc.

   

White water rafting

Located 5 minute drive from Venosc in Bourg d’Arud, at the foot of the Deux Alpes resort, you can find mountain and whitewater activities: Rafting, Hydrospeed , Hot Dog , Airboat , Canyoning and Via Ferrata. Taylor made summertime activity menus can be arranged for group visits.

Swimming pools, Tennis, Golf and Children’s Play Park

There is a 20m heated public open air pool with flumes in Bourg D’Arud 5minutes drive from Venosc, or a lovely 20 minute walk.  Understandably this pool is only open in summertime (mid June to  the end of August). Les Deux Alpes also has a Swimming Pool, La Croisette, which is enclosed and open winter and summer seasons.

There are tennis courts and a children’s play park, all part of Venosc’s municipal leisure facilities, next to the swimming pool.

Les Dux Alpes has a lovely, small 9 hole golf course overlooking the Vénéon Valley.  At 160om altitude it has unbeatable views of the mountains.

Tree adventures

Tree climbing, and zip line course is situated in Bourg D’Arud, 10 minutes’ drive from Venosc

Paragliding

There are several launch points for paragliding in les Deux Alpest, des Perrons, le Diable, la Grave, Col de la Sambuy and Refuge de L’Aigle. and Landings in Venosc, Les Deux Alpes, la Grave and more. If you are feeling adventurous, a treck to eth Col du vallon and Breche Perier have stunning flights landing at Lac Lauvitel. Nearby in Alpe d’Huez, there the launch points land in le Bourg D’Oisans

 

Chilling

You would be hard pushed to find a more tranquil and beautiful place to chill out in our chalet or in the cafes and bars of Venosc. The views form our roof terrace are stunning day and night, with shade and shelter always there form the rafters.

There are many easy walks with frequent stopping points where you can sit in the sun and absorb the scenery. There is plenty space and flexibility in our chalet to do yoga, set up your writing area or just meditate in very comfortable surroundings.

If you are staying off season there is barely a sound except for the rush of the la Cascade de Muzel in the distance and the occasional sound of children playing or the ring of the church bell.
